Position description
The Department of Head and Neck Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA seeks applicants for a fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologist at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level to join our growing and dynamic academic faculty. Academic appointments will be commensurate with experience.
The health system includes several busy neonatal intensive care units, pediatric intensive care units, outpatient clinics, surgery centers and operating room facilities. There is opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary clinics, including craniofacial, aerodigestive, and vascular anomalies, as well as hospital-based pediatric programs. The UCLA Health System and UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital have a tertiary/quaternary presence and provide a diverse experience, with the full breadth of pediatric otolaryngologic care, with a special interest in building an internationally acclaimed Pediatric Clinical Program.
Qualified candidates must hold an M.D. degree or equivalent, be board certified/eligible in Otolaryngology, and have or be eligible for a California medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, and completed an accredited fellowship training in Pediatric Otolaryngology. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching and clinical, translational and/or basic science research.
The successful candidate will be fully engaged in providing state-of-the-art, patient-centered care. Primary duties and interest involve development of a research program, applying for extramural funding and teaching and clinical duties. The individual should be enthusiastic about engaging in academically productive scientific inquiry, educating medical students, residents, and fellows, serving the university community, and augmenting one of the nation’s leading departments. The candidate may also be expected to perform clinical duties at one of our satellite facilities.

The University of California is committed to creating and maintaining a community dedicated to the advancement, application, and transmission of knowledge and creative endeavors through academic excellence, where all individuals who participate in University programs and activities can work and learn together in a safe and secure environment, free of violence, harassment, bullying and other demeaning behavior, discrimination, exploitation, or intimidation. With this commitment as well as a commitment to addressing all forms of academic misconduct, UCLA conducts targeted employment reference checks for finalists to whom departments or other hiring units would like to extend formal offers of appointment into Academic Senate faculty positions. The targeted employment reference checks involve contacting the finalists’ current and prior places of employment to ask whether there have been substantiated findings of misconduct that would violate the University’s Faculty Code of Conduct. To implement this process, UCLA requires all applicants for Academic Senate faculty positions to complete, sign, and upload the form entitled “Authorization to Release Information” into RECRUIT as part of their application. If the applicant does not include the signed authorization to release information with the application materials, the application will be considered incomplete. As with any incomplete application, the application will not receive further consideration. Although all applicants for faculty recruitments must complete the entire application, only finalists (i.e., those to whom the department or other hiring unit would like to extend a formal offer) considered for Academic Senate faculty positions will be subject to targeted employment reference checks.
