Position description

The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) invites applications for part-time or full-time assistant adjunct position(s) in Japanese culture studies in the 2024-2025 academic year.

Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. degree by August 2024 in one or more of the following: Japanese language; Japanese culture; education; or other related areas. Three years or more of experience in teaching Japanese culture studies courses at the college level is desirable.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 1. The salary range for this position is $78,200 - $86,600. This annual salary rate reflects a 100% appointment. The selected candidate’s salary rate will be prorated based on the designated percentage of time. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
