Position description
The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System is seeking a candidate for a Postdoc Scholar position.
The candidate will work in the lab of Tomohiro Yokota, M.D., Ph.D. conducting research on physiological and pathological remodeling in the heart. Dr. Yokota’s research program focuses on cardiac maturation and related diseases. Ongoing projects include identifications of key regulators of cardiomyocyte maturation processes and disease progression in the heart.
Responsibilities include experimental designs and execution, data analysis, team and conference presentation, literature reviews, and paper writing. The candidate will be encouraged to collaborate broadly with research teams at UCLA and beyond and therefore must have good communication, teamwork and leadership skills. Prior experience with immunohistochemistry and echocardiogram is desired.
A Ph.D. is required. Qualified applicants must have strong oral/written communication and critical thinking skills. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in molecular biology, a strong research background in cardiovascular biology/physiology, and experience working with cell cultures and mice. In addition, applicants who have experience in echocardiogram, immunohistochemistry, and single-cell techniques are encouraged to apply. Candidates will be expected to contribute to ongoing projects and expand novel independent research projects in a collaborative research environment.

Qualifications
A Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Physiology or Developmental Biology
Prior experience with immunohistochemistry and echocardiogram is desired.
A working knowledge of experimental design and data analysis is preferred.
