Position title: Interdisciplinary Group Practice Director
Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table #5, Scales 0 and 3. The salary range for this position is $118,000 - $183,500. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan - APM-670, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The UCLA School of Dentistry offers an additional $5,000 in base salary compensation on top of the published salary scales for all clinical faculty.

Position description

The University of California Los Angeles, School of Dentistry invites qualified applications for a full‐time Assistant/Associate Professor, clinical track position in the Section of Interdisciplinary Dentistry. The faculty position is linked to a functional role as Group Practice Director (GPD), where expertise in general dentistry is essential.

The proposed starting date for this full-time position is January 1st, 2025. The search will remain open until the position has been filled. Applicants must possess (1) a DMD/DDS degree from an institution accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or equivalent, (2) active California Dental License in good standing (or be eligible to obtain one), (3) a minimum of 5 years of general dental practice experience, and (4) a minimum of 5 years of teaching and/or administration in a dental school setting.

In addition to the qualifications described above, the applicant should demonstrate a track record in general dental practice with an outstanding and verifiable record in patient care. Preference will be given to those practicing General Dentistry. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Screening and assessment of new patients,
• Chair-side comprehensive treatment planning of patients,
• Discussion of treatment plans and treatment progression of patients outside of direct patient care unit (i.e., office discussion, chart reviews),
• Assist other faculty in supervising the delivery of general dentistry procedures by students at times when the clinic is busy,
• Supervise the interaction between students and patients, and resolve conflicts,
• Promote an environment of collaboration with faculty from other disciplines as to enhance student education and patient care.

Applicants should possess clinical and teaching skills, interest, and commitment to training dental students in an enthusiastic manner. Demonstration of passion for clinical dentistry is intimately linked to achieving success in this position. Teaching experience at a dental school, including management and staff supervision responsibilities, is highly desirable. A track record of scholarly and creative activities and demonstration of commitment to diversity is desirable. Familiarity with dental clinical databases and the generation of reports is also desirable.

Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience. An opportunity for intra-mural part‐time (one day per week) private practice is also available. The salary range for this position is $118,000 - $183,500. See Table #5, scale 0 and 3.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications
