Position description
Title: ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATOR V
Working Title: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR GENERAL EDUCATION
Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Initiatives (UEI), the Assistant Director for General Education works to advance initiatives aimed at improving the equity and effectiveness of the General Education curriculum at UCLA. The incumbent facilitates the intellectual and pedagogical development of undergraduate curricular initiatives spearheaded by UEI, including courses offered through the UCLA Cluster Program. In addition, the Assistant Director for General Education researches best practices related to undergraduate education and provides guidance and oversight to the evaluation of undergraduate education, specifically for UCLA’s General Education curriculum and UEI’s academic programs.
Qualifications include a doctorate; college-level teaching experience; knowledge of interdisciplinary education; understanding of teaching technologies and inclusive pedagogical research and techniques; experience with evidence-based research on teaching and learning and evaluation within a university setting; strong leadership and interpersonal skills to bring together faculty, graduate student instructors, and other academic personnel in collaborative projects; administrative experience in academic program management. Preferred knowledge of best practices and scholarship associated with general/liberal arts education curriculum.
The responsibilities of the GE Academic Administrator fall into four broad areas: 1) General Education curricular development; 2) intellectual and pedagogical development for the UCLA Cluster Program and related undergraduate curricular initiatives; 3) undergraduate education evaluation and research; and 4) teaching as time permits.

Qualifications
• The candidate must have a doctoral degree
• College-level teaching experience
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of interdisciplinary instruction and inclusive teaching
• Understanding of teaching technologies and inclusive pedagogical research and techniques
• Experience with evidence-based research on teaching and learning and evaluation within a university setting
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to bring together faculty, graduate student instructors, and other academic personnel in collaborative projects
• Academic administrative experience
• Preferred knowledge in best practices associated with general/liberal arts education curriculum
