Position description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in molecular biology, immunology, murine models, and exposure to bioinformatics. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team dedicated to advancing our understanding of immune resistance and differentiation in bladder and prostate cancers in order to develop novel therapeutics. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead research projects that combine experimental and computational approaches to explore tumor immunology, cancer biology, and therapeutic development.

Recent Lab Publications:

  1. Zhang, H., Ly, A., Chou, E., Wang, L., Zhang, P., Prado, K., Gu, Y., Pellegrini, M., Chin, A.I., Role of Forkhead Box P3 in Interferon gamma-mediated PD-L1 Expression and Bladder Cancer Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition, Cancer Research Communications, 4 (8), 2024. PMID 39099201

  2. Gu, Y., Ly, A., Rodriquez, S., Zhang, H., Kim, J., Zhiyuan, M., Sachdeva, A., Zomorodian, N., Pellegrini, M., Li, G., Liu, S., Drakaki, A., Rettig, M., Chin, A.I., PD-1 blockage plus cisplatin-based chemotherapy in patients with small cell/neuroendocrine bladder and prostate cancers. Cell Reports Medicine, 5 (11), 2024.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and execute molecular and cellular biology experiments, including gene editing, protein analysis, and functional assays
• Conduct immunological experiments to characterize immune responses in murine models of disease
• Perform data analysis and interpretation, integrating bioinformatics techniques to analyze large datasets (e.g., RNA-seq, single-cell sequencing, etc.)
• Collaborate with bioinformaticians to develop and apply computational models that predict immune cell behavior and response to therapeutic interventions
• Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant writing for the lab as well as post-doctoral specific funding, and presentation of research findings at scientific conferences

Qualifications:
• PhD in Biological Sciences
• Expertise in molecular biology techniques, including cloning, PCR, Western blotting, and flow cytometry
• Knowledge of immunological assays (e.g., ELISA, cytotoxicity assays, cytokine profiling)
• Familiarity with CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing and lentiviral transduction in human and murine cell lines
• Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and programming languages (e.g., R, Python) for data analysis and visualization; training is available
• Previous experience working with in vivo murine models (e.g., mouse handling, dosing, and tissue collection)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of published research in peer-reviewed journals
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
