Position description
Summary
The Samelson Lab is interested in how proteins aggregate and how neurons control protein aggregation. We use in vitro biophysics and biochemical methods to characterize protein aggregation trajectories and the molecules that control those trajectories. We also leverage CRISPR-based genetic modifier screens in iPSC-derived neuronal cell types relevant for disease to find novel modulators of protein aggregation in cells. We are especially interested in tau aggregation and alpha-synuclein aggregation (especially in Parkinson’s disease). We are searching for a highly motivated, creative, curious, and collaborative individual to join the world-class community of neuroscientists and biochemists at UCLA.
