Position description
This will be a full-time post-doctoral fellow position in the Department of Neurology in the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Under the supervision of a principal investigator, the incumbent will conduct biomarker studies in neurodegenerative diseases. Training will be a continuous feature of this position. Specifically, the candidate will assist in conducting experiments using human blood samples, isolating extracellular vesicles, and measuring biomarkers using ELISA and ECLIA. Duties include maintenance of sample repositories, handling of human tissues, isolation of CNS-originating extracellular vesicles, measurement of various biomarkers, analyzing data, communicating the results in conference presentations and papers, and training other lab members. The candidate will assist in ordering laboratory equipment and supplies and maintaining reagent stocks. This researcher will be working on innovative research and as such will learn new techniques as they apply to emerging projects and teach other research personnel as necessary, specifically regarding to diagnosis, prognosis, and progression of neurodegenerative diseases. Administrative work will be required, including maintenance of detailed records, approval of protocols, laboratory maintenance, and scheduling of experiments. Candidate will follow all laboratory safety practices, train volunteers, and assist with and maintain IBC and IRB protocols.
