Position overview

Salary range: The posted UC salary scales [https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html] set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The salary range for this position is $142,100-$429,000. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan [https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf], which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description

UCLA Hospital Medicine has openings for full-time faculty positions across multiple sites in the Greater Los Angeles area, which include the following:

  • Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (UCLA's main tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital treating patients across the socioeconomic spectrum with a variety of illnesses, including a large population of patients with solid organ transplants)
  • UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center (UCLA teaching hospital that provides tertiary care across the socioeconomic spectrum)
  • UCLA West Valley Medical Center (UCLA community hospital) and Olive View-UCLA Medical Center (LA county teaching hospital affiliated with DGSOM)
  • California Rehabilitation Institute and Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital
  • Providence Saint John’s Health Center
  • Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center and Torrance Memorial Medical Center
  • Barlow Respiratory Hospital and Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital
  • Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital
  • Los Robles Regional Medical Center

Positions involve traditional inpatient internal medicine coverage, including direct patient care, occasionally in collaboration with advanced practice providers. There are opportunities to spend time on clinical teaching services, supervising residents, and medical students. Responsibilities also include coverage of admission shifts, internal medicine consultation services, preoperative clinics, and night shifts. Available roles may be day shifts, nocturnist roles, or a combination, depending on availability. Successful applicants will also hold a full-time faculty appointment in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or full Professor rank in the Department of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Responsibilities also include a minimum of 36 hours per week of direct patient care, clinical teaching of medical students and/or residents, participation in creativity in a variety of professional activities including those that may involve teaching, scholarly or administrative contributions (such as research, QI, advancement of Inclusive excellence, community engagement etc.) and participation in university or public service.

The successful candidate must be board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine. Demonstrated skill in clinical teaching and professional practice is required. An M.D. or D.O. is required. A California medical license is required.
