Position description

The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is seeking a full-time Vascular Neurologist to provide inpatient clinical neurology and stroke care at UCLA West Valley Medical Center, a satellite hospital affiliated with our academic health system. This position will hold a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level (or higher commensurate with credentials) in the Health Sciences Clinical series and will support the expansion of our inpatient neurology and cerebrovascular services in a hybrid academic-community setting.

UCLA Neurology is home to a breadth of clinical specialties, clinics, programs, facilities, and leading-edge research initiatives. Our West Valley campus is a Primary Plus Stroke Center, offering 24/7 access to advanced neurovascular services including neuro-endovascular interventions and neurosurgical expertise. The center is supported by RN stroke coordinators, a robust telestroke/teleneurology network, and integrated quality improvement initiatives. Faculty at West Valley collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of renowned interventional neurologists, neurosurgeons, intensivists and neuroradiologists to provide cutting edge neurological care.

The ideal candidate will be a Vascular Neurology fellowship–trained neurologist with a strong commitment to inpatient care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and interest in developing a Vascular Neurology and Neurohospitalist service in a supportive, resource-rich environment. Leadership opportunities in administration of the West Valley UCLA Stroke Program will be available to a candidate with appropriate level of expertise and experience. Responsibilities include Acute Stroke/Telestroke consultations, inpatient consultations, stroke care, participation in academic conferences, and community outreach, including CME activities for regional providers.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
• Possess a MD, DO or MD/PhD or equivalent
• Experience with inpatient and ICU neurology including management of diverse, complex neurologic conditions
• Strong organizational skills
• Demonstrated strong communication skills to work collaboratively with other disciplines, specialties, and neurological subspecialties.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
• California medical license or licensure eligibility
• Board certified/eligible in Neurology by the ABPN
• Fellowship training in Vascular Neurology on or before start date.
• Board certification or eligibility in Vascular Neurology on or before start date

The salary range for this position is $136,100 to $250,000 with the opportunity for higher earnings contingent on performance-based incentives. This position [includes/may include] membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment.
