Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 37B. The salary range for this position is $76,700 – $97,600.

Position description

The Assistant Project Scientist will engage in significant and creative contributions to the research programs of the Vision Science Division under the supervision of Alapakkam P. Sampath, Ph.D. Specifically, the incumbent will be researching molecular mechanisms of photoreceptor adaptation. The appointee will be responsible for supervising and mentoring trainees, contributing to the planning and execution of current research projects, conducting data analysis, and preparing manuscripts and grant applications.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

Doctorate (M.D. or Ph.D.) in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field.

Additional qualifications

Postdoctoral experience in vision science research, with specific expertise in patch clamp recording from dark-adapted retinal slices.
