Position description

The UCLA Department of Classics seeks to hire lecturers to fill at least two teaching positions for the 2026-27 academic year. Each successful candidate will teach courses in the material culture of the Greco-Roman world or ancient Greek language and culture. Applicants are encouraged to review details on undergraduate course offerings in Classics by consulting the course descriptions in the UCLA General Catalog, available here: GREEK and CLASSICS. Successful candidates will also be welcome to suggest courses of their own devising.

Applicants are required to hold a PhD by the start of the appointment.

See Table 15 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is an annual rate of $70,977-$82,284.

This position is represented by the University Council – American Federation of Teachers: Contract - UCNET. Internal applicants will be considered for reappointment prior to the consideration of external applicants.
